Sourdough grilled with mozzarella, tomato, basil, and Parmesan offers a delicious, flavorful sandwich experience.
# Ingredient List:
→ Bread & Dairy
01 - 4 slices sturdy sourdough or country-style bread
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
03 - 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
04 - 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
→ Vegetables & Herbs
05 - 1 ripe tomato, thinly sliced
06 - 8 fresh basil leaves
→ Sauces & Flavorings
07 - 3 tablespoons pizza sauce or marinara sauce
08 - 1 small garlic clove, halved
# Directions:
01 - Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. Rub the cut side of the garlic clove over the unbuttered side of two bread slices to infuse them with garlic flavor.
02 - Arrange the two garlic-rubbed bread slices, unbuttered side facing up, on a work surface. Layer each with half of the mozzarella slices, tomato slices, pizza or marinara sauce, basil leaves, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Close with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing outward.
03 - Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet. Grill for 3 to 5 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese melts, pressing gently with a spatula as they cook.
04 - Transfer sandwiches from the skillet to a cutting board. Let rest for 1 minute, then cut in half and serve immediately while hot.
