06 - Freshly ground black pepper to taste

# Directions:

01 - Lay out bread slices on a clean surface and butter one side of each slice evenly.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The jalapeño bread builds heat right into the foundation, so every bite delivers spice without any extra work
  • Tomatoes add this bright juiciness that cuts through all that melty cheese richness
  • Takes literally 13 minutes from thought to plate, which is basically fast food that actually cares about you
02 -
  • Medium heat is non-negotiable here, anything higher will burn those jalapeño bits before the cheese even starts thinking about melting
  • Pressing too hard with your spatula squeezes out all the cheesy goodness, gentle pressure is all you need
  • Thin tomato slices are the difference between a structured sandwich and a soggy mess
03 -
  • Mayo instead of butter on the outside creates an even crispier, golden crust that wont burn as easily
  • Grating some extra cheese directly into the tomato layers helps everything stick together
